THEME 2: The role of territorial authorities in the development and promotion of resources and mountain quality products

1/ Presentation of the topic

Local and regional authorities have always played a important role within local initiatives for development and promotion of products and resources from mountain areas, but little tools are available for their evaluation and improvement. Nevertheless, today perhaps more than ever, the role given to these institutions for the promotion of the territorial specificities is essential for the dynamism and image of these regions. Assessing effectiveness and efficiency of measures implemented is necessary for the local and regional authorities to fulfil the requirements of the project holders.

The second theme of Interreg project Euromountains.net on the role of the local and regional authorities in the development and the promotion of quality of mountain resources and products’ aims to analyse and to compare the strategies of development and promotion of resources and products of quality in mountains, based on experiences within several mountain areas, in order to exchange and disseminate good practices and to identify common proposals to promote inter-sectoral cooperations.

This theme assembles 6 partners from 4 countries. About thirty food, craft and tourism products have been studied and analysed, which provided the first conclusions and proposals addressed to public authorities.
